This month, Lululemon and ViraVinyasa Yoga School are giving back to the Family & Children’s Services Women in Recovery (WIR) program through Tulsa’s Sweat Collective on Sunday, October 15 and Women’s Clothing Swap on October 21.

WIR is an intensive outpatient alternative for eligible women facing long prison sentences for drug-related offenses and is operated in partnership with the George Kaiser Family Foundation. WIR participants use yoga as a recovery tool to improve the physical fitness, mental clarity, stress reduction and rejuvenation. This type of physical activity and participation is encouraged and reinforced with WIR participants through Tulsa Area United Way mentoring relationships and a team of yoga instructors who volunteer their time at WIR.

Lululemon’s Sweat Collective is a group of athletes, trainers and instructors who have selected WIR’s yoga teaching team as their 2018 community partner. The Sweat Collective is gathering gently worn fitness gear for WIR participants.

Now in its fourth year, the ViraVinyasa Yoga School is hosting Tulsa’s Women’s Clothes Swap on Saturday, October 21 from 3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Hardesty Arts Building in the Tulsa Arts District(101 East Archer Street).

The way it works: Bring a bag (or more) of clothes, housewares, kids clothes, maternity clothes, shoes and/accessories. Take as much as you want home. There is a $5 cost to get in and all monetary proceeds will go to hurricane victims. All remaining clothing will be donated to WIR.

The clothes swap was created to connect Tulsa women and give back to the community. The last swap raised over $700 for WIR. New yoga props were purchased for the women in the yoga program at WIR.

For more information about the clothing swap, visit their Facebook page.
